Threat: What is a threat?
What Kind of threat? Does it matter?  Yes.
Let us see what the Bible tells us:

Romans 12:17 ESV

Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all.

After King Saul became obsessed with killing David there were times when David could have killed King Saul but did not.
READ:  1 Samuel 24 New International Version (NIV)

“. . . . ’” Then David crept up unnoticed and cut off a corner of Saul’s robe.”

David could have killed King Saul who was a sever threat but did not.

Ageless Sword Protection

Jesus told Peter to put away his sword in the Garden of Gethsemane when Judas betrayed Him and He was about to be lead away.

John 18:11 ESV

So Jesus said to Peter, “Put your sword into its sheath; shall I not drink the cup that the Father has given me?”

What about threats to you and your family?
Bandit
Bully

Exodus 22:2-3 ESV

If a thief is found breaking in and is struck so that he dies, there shall be no bloodguilt for him, but if the sun has risen on him, there shall be bloodguilt for him. He shall surely pay. If he has nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft.

The Human Tongue

Weapon of Mass Destruction or Mass Good?39

War

If a leader is in charge of a powerful military armed with a great many weapons that can inflict great harm and this leader orders their use it is the tongue that unleashed the harm, just as much as the military and its weapons. Words are powerful.  If a spouse says I love you or instead I hate you, the recipient is either uplifted or devastated. If your son or daughter is encouraged or discouraged it most likely came from your words. Likewise teachers and students, bosses and employees . . . etc.

A Tongue Looks Innocent

39Proverbs 18:21 ESV

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.

Human Weapon

Proverbs 6:16-19 ESV

There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him : haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.

Sassy Woman

Can you control your tongue?

James 3:1-18 ESV

Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness. For we all stumble in many ways. And if anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle his whole body. If we put bits into the mouths of horses so that they obey us, we guide their whole bodies as well. Look at the ships also: though they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are guided by a very small rudder wherever the will of the pilot directs. So also the tongue is a small member, yet it boasts of great things. How great a forest is set ablaze by such a small fire! …
