Consciousness: The sum total input from all our senses and our perception of what it means.
GOD provides us with the gift of our senses and the gift of our intellect; how we perceive what it all means and interpret it with our consciousness can be is dependent on whether or not we believe GOD. Since I am a Christian my source of guidance for this process comes from The Word of GOD; in particular what Jesus taught.
The Bible is the lens and filter by which we Christians should examine what we do and who we say we are.
Diligent study of GOD’s Word will strengthen our ability to avoid temptation and sin and live a more GOD influenced life every day.
If we reject GOD and choose evil or even the appearance of evil we and others will look at our lives and our existence from that point of view; Choose GOOD; Choose Jesus and eternity with GOD.
The seeking was prompted by the so many unknowns humans were confronted by in their daily lives. Some among each population (clan, tribe, nation) were aroused to fill the void: discover ways to commune with GOD or gods and act as a representative of the people – a priest. This approach led to many forms of human invention meant to fill the void but, sadly at the expense of the general population for the aggrandizement of a few. With their power over others these intermediary few compelled the people to comply and obey or they would offend the gods. What is unique about the way our true Biblical GOD accomplished this? GOD approached, taught and guided people (not the other way around).
Enoch walked with God after he fathered Methuselah 300 years and had other sons and daughters.
What we Believe as Christians is that GOD provided people with guidance knowledge and standards through Prophets
“Prophet (general definition):In religion, a prophet is an individual who is regarded as being in contact with a divine being and is said to speak on that entity’s behalf, serving as an intermediary with humanity by delivering messages or teachings from the supernatural source to other people. The message that the prophet conveys is called a prophecy. “
But the prophet who presumes to speak a word in my name that I have
not commanded him to speak, or who speaks in the name of other gods,
that same prophet shall die.’ And if you say in your heart, ‘How may we
know the word that the Lord has not spoken?’— when a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the word does not come to pass or come true, that is a word that the Lord has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously. You need not be afraid of him.
Before I became a Christian I lead a decadent life with few constraints; ultimately this lead to several negative challenges in my life – I failed to correct my faults. Finally admitting I was a sinner unable to control my sin nature without help. I turned my life over to GOD through Jesus Christ. Sure life became better but consequences still arouse and occasionally I needed to remind myself what my weaknesses were and that it was GOD not me that made the recovery possible.
Finally after more than thirty-five years my most difficult battles seem to be in the past.
I must not drop my guard: In a culture that seems to be challenged more and more by substance abuse, depression and declining morals my only hope for a better life, the resistance to temptation is my trust in Jesus and the Word of GOD as my guide.
Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.
Excerpt from a secular blog of mine: Odd Thoughts (with Christian influence)
What is a Realistic Education (Biblical Stewadship; resonsibility) Somewhere along the way Americans seem to have lost their understanding of what a useful education really is: A realistic education prepares a student for becoming a productive citizen with realistic expectations, skills for industry and in home life and, an understanding of right and wrong. Knowledge of our political system with its checks and balances with accurate expectations as a citizen. What do I believe about this topic? First there is no one route to success, second few people will achieve recognition for some esoteric or exotic invention. The overwhelming majority of our citizens will work for a living and mange their affairs in a responsible way which yields satisfaction (contentment and happiness). What kind of knowledge and training do people need? There is more than one (or just a few) paths A. Basics: Language – reading and writing and, math skills. B. Advanced Basics:
Health: Nutrition, dangers, medical routines, exercise . . . etc.
Personal Economics: Money management, retirement planning, running a household.
Thorough knowledge of American History and our relationship to World History.
Detailed knowledge of our political system with checks and balances and relationship of majorities to minorities; our economic system.
Morality: right from wrong; civility and common courtesies. THE TEN COMMANDMENTS Respect for spiritual matters. C. Advanced Studies: in compact programs, vocational schools, military service and then Colleges or Universities.
Leadership skills (if applicable)
Advanced Mental Health: accurate knowledge of self and the relationship with others.
What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
Works will not save you only accepting Jesus Christ can do that but, we express our gratitude for GOD’s Grace by showing GOD’s Love in the way we live and act. Works do add to our heavenly rewards however: Matthew 16:27; James 1:12;
The saddest thing for me is seeing a Christian displaying a “fish” or Christian slogan on their bumper but then drive angrily and discourteously.
As Christians people will judge our faith, our character and perhaps even Jesus by the way we behave and function in our society. It is our responsibility to live up to GOD’s standard and adhere to the teachings of Jesus Christ as much as it is humanly possible. I say humanly possible, because we are all sinners saved by grace: when we stumble we must confess our sins and strive to defeat whatever the sin was – we can with the help of the Holy Spirit.
Yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life?
For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.
Christmas Trees drop their needles, toys break, cars wear out and our buildings eventually crumble. Our bodies age and need more attention with each passing year. So, what can we do about the process of entropy that we are immersed in? First we focus on what is eternal: GOD.
SELFISHNESS SONG, being selfish. Christian kids song about selfishness.
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord,
plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you.
This is wise because while statistically we all may not reach old age there is our progeny we may wish to provide for; a spouse; a non-profit organization. Responsible stewardship is a positive endeavor.
But making material gain a priority is flawed
As I pointed out above the things of this world fade and crumble; our descendants may benefit but must make their own way eventually. The old adage, “We can’t take it with us.” rings true.
Today humans have acquired knowledge and skill so that doctors and surgeons can provide corrective care and, chemists and biologists can provide medicine for healing. GOD has equipped modern humans for the tasks at hand. This and other beneficial abilities improve the lives of millions of people.
To another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit,
The Nurses, Technicians and Hospital Workers all add to this effort
It is not only the higher level professional healthcare provider that makes a significant difference but the next lower tier of workers too. In some ways this tier of workers provides more detailed and long-term care than doctors and surgeons. Where would we be without them in the hospital, emergency room, nursing homes or even in home care?
Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken.
The world is a complex web of connected economies, food supplies, medical expertise and knowledge: we may fool ourselves and deny this but we can not ignore these truths for long, for if we do we will surely discover negative affects.
The Bible as a handbook for societies
The precepts espoused within the Biblical Scripture go beyond spiritual matters and enter into the realm of the interaction of humans in social environments. Some of the truths are: sharing a defense including law and order; sharing a food supply; safeguarding the vulnerable members of society and defining and insuring justice for all.
Not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
There are a small number of people who have lived, live and will live in isolation to one degree or another but, this proves nothing about humanity’s need for one another as a whole. Global trade, International Law or disaster assistance after calamity are not achieved by isolated individuals suddenly able to function as participants. Society is constantly practiced, corrected and improved by a conscious effort. The Bible is a marvelous guide for running a society and giving a framework for this.
Christians benefit from The Bible’s practicality . . .
. . . but we gain more than that: we get to know GOD, insure our eternity through Jesus and how to live as Christians in a world froth with challenges.
For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
Church revival and church growth starts with you and, you will make a difference in a troubled world if you do; demonstrate the Love of GOD teach others about Jesus and Salvation.

THE BIBLE SHOULD BE STUDIED AS A SINGLE UNIT; UNITED IN CONCEPT AND CONSISTENT WHEN CONTEXT IS UNDERSTOOD.
PLEASE SHARE MY BLOG . . . NOTE: THERE ARE MANY ARTICLES IN THE ARCHIVE THAT YOU MAY ENJOY ALSO.
GOD gave us our senses; our brains; our minds . . . How we use them is governed by ‘Free Will’. We are free: to sin or not to sin; determine what is good or what is evil; choose to be positive or choose to be negative.
The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned.
How do we gain the most good from GOD?
When we accept Jesus as our Savior, study The Bible and, live according to GOD’s Standards we get the most benefit that we can now. We learn to reject sin, do good, express the goodness of GOD and spread the Gospel, so others might be saved for eternity. So they receive The Love of GOD for always. All this with the guidance from the Holy Spirit you can have right now.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
But, once there was only The Truth GOD offered to humans; that changed when Adam and Eve believed Satan’s lie in the Garden of Eden. It has been a struggle ever since to ascertain truth from falsehoods. Humans tend to classify truth: Universal Truth, Relative Truth, Authoritarian Truth, Scientific Truth and so on; the opposite of these logically is easily done by replacing “truth” with “untruth”. A dictionary description can be complicated also:
a. Conformity to fact or actuality:Doesthisstoryhaveanytruth?
b. Reality;actuality:In truth, he wasnotqualifiedforthejob.
c. Thereality of a situation.
a. A statementproven to be or accepted as true:truthsaboutnature.
Truth has been butchered by technology abused and minipulated by political leaders, unscuplious businesses, biased media and a host of off beat self proclaimed experts in too many genres to cover here.
So what are we to do? What are we to tell our children?
Let us step back to the begining: There was GOD and then there was what GOD created.
