Forgiven: A Fresh Start

Would you like a fresh start in life?

Let’s face it, we all have made mistakes and would like to forget they even happened.  Sometimes the people we had offended have forgive us: a family dispute, a spouse or perhaps a friend.  If we  mistreat someone we often regret it and are relieved if we can meet or speak with them and make amends.

What if the mistake or offense happened many years ago and we cannot seek forgiveness or apologize?

Once I abruptly broke a relationship and began another without much of an explanation; that was forty years ago and unlikely that I can even say that I was sorry today.  What if the person you offended is no longer alive? Or what if you did some mischief as a child that upon reflection you realize you inflicted emotional pain and making amends is beyond human ability?

No need to suffer – image from pixabay.com

Living with regret and guilt is not necessary because GOD will forgive you and forget that you committed the offense.

Still, if an offense has a consequence that you may have to suffer (perhaps something you committed as drastic as a crime) that will not go away but, with GOD’s help you can accept this and be at peace with yourself nevertheless.  You can free yourself from needless self punishment. Accept that Jesus died in your place for your transgressions and gain forgiveness and eternal life with GOD.

Romans 3:23-25 ESV

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins.

2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

Hebrews 8:12 ESV

For I will be merciful toward their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no more.”
