How do we know what to do in life
Do we have a life’s work or mission? Often young people are asked what they want to be when they become adults and their answers sometime actually come true but, for many of us life is not, or was not that simple. Instead some of us struggle to find that niche that would define “our life’s work” and some of us have never found it yet.
Perhaps we missed the match with our potential and the opportunities that were presented to us, or we never had that circumstance that triggered our curiosity; we may think we never were meant to have such a meaningful discovery.
Setting aside the humorous anecdotes and cartoon images of the old man on the mountain top or perpetual traveler who is questing for “The Ultimate Truth” or seeking a revelation from GOD. We Christians know we have a direct line of communication with GOD; this is despite our dubious nature because our belief in the work that Jesus has done for all people for all time. Because he paid the price for all sin we can pray to GOD directly and ask for guidance in this matter.
Matthew 7:7 ESV
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
I am not omniscient nor can I see the future
GOD knows past, present and future so whom shall we ask about what it is we should do with the life we have? Of course we should seek GOD and the best way to do that is by prayer as I have written in the above paragraph. It is also important to learn all we can about GOD by studying The Holy Bible since we cannot achieve anything contrary to GOD’s standards.
Jeremiah 29:11 ESV
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
Beware of false prophets by knowing GOD’s Word
But the prophet who presumes to speak a word in my name that I have not commanded him to speak, or who speaks in the name of other gods, that same prophet shall die.’ And if you say in your heart, ‘How may we know the word that the Lord has not spoken?’— when a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the word does not come to pass or come true, that is a word that the Lord has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously. You need not be afraid of him.
What applies to individuals also applies to nations
Our United States of America has risen above human flaws and demonstrated much of GOD’s truth when she has sought it in the face of serious challenges. “In GOD We Trust” truly meant something and was not an empty slogan. My fellow believers join me in daily (near constant) prayer for our Nation; pray that as a nation we return to GOD for guidance and GOD’s ways of what is good and right. Not as unthinking blind and deaf patriots but as Christians who serve GOD and Country. GOD Bless the USA.
Maybe you have been called to work for “The Good of All” as a secular leader or a religious leader; for our nation’s future
Isaiah 60:12 ESV
For the nation and kingdom that will not serve you shall perish; those nations shall be utterly laid waste.
