In politics and diplomacy you may get away with being of a plastic mind but in many other aspects of life this will not work.
Most people agree attempting to legislate moral issues is a futile exercise and can drain resources from areas of threats to society that are of a more menacing nature. Yes some of these moral issues that seem not to be as destructive to society still have far reaching consequences; set a stage for hypocrisy and may even lead some people on a path to self destruction. The generation in charge of society can make a positive difference without creating so called laws of morality: what seems to affect the young the most (my own observation from my own life’s experience) are double standards, sliding scales and overt hypocrisy. This is most often has a negative affect because an immoral act may lead the young astray even if there is no formal legal recourse in a society. Of course these negative responses can only occur if the young people have been presented with GOD’s moral standard and then encouraged to adhere to it but then, the adults that taught them right from wrong are observed to live openly with a disregard for the high ideals they claim to accept. When I was young I embraced all these ideals but fell quickly into confusion upon entering the world of the adults where a wink, a “we really do it this way” or “this is the way it’s done now” dominated the society. What can be done to make a correction? First present GOD’s Standard accurately and second, demonstrate that it is possible to do a better job in living by it.
Romans 12:2 ESV
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Are you like the tide coming and going

Are you tossed to and fro by the waves
Are you driven by whatever force is close at hand never caring whether it is right or wrong ; moral or immoral; constructive or destructive?

James 1:6-8 ESV
But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

We know we have a sin nature even if we have become a Christian and must strive to be obedient to GOD; live a life becoming more Christ-Like every day.

Does the wind guide you? Providing easy answers, “going along to get along” or keeping you ignorant of the standards of GOD? This kind of life will leave you aimless and with a weak testimony concerning our Christian Faith.
James 5:12 ESV
But above all, my brothers, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or by any other oath, but let your “yes” be yes and your “no” be no, so that you may not fall under condemnation.

Are you in the end uncertain of everything?
Proverbs 3:5 ESV
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.
